A Comb of Wishes

Ever since her mother's death, Kela feels broken, much like the shards of glass, or 'mermaid's tears,' that she finds on the beaches of St. Rita. When she stumbles upon a unique treasure, she accidentally summons a mermaid named Ophidia, who offers Kela a wish in exchange for her ancient comb. Despite desiring her mother's return, Kela understands that such a significant wish could come with a dangerous cost. Set in a world steeped in Caribbean folklore, Lisa Stringfellow's debut novel explores themes of grief and vengeance through the intertwining tales of a heartbroken girl and a wrathful mermaid.
