Among the Brave

In a society that permits families to have only two children, third child Trey has been forced to live his entire life in hiding. Trey embarks on a quest to find his missing friend Lee, discovering his own courage and strengths along the way in a society that doesn't acknowledge his existence. In contrasting adventures, Trey may have saved Luke's life, but he still thinks of himself as a coward who can barely stand to be outdoors. When Luke is taken prisoner at Population Police headquarters, Trey, terrified, decides to rescue his friend by impersonating an officer. Just as he gets close, Trey finds himself in imminent danger of exposing not just himself, but all shadow children.
