Full Cicada Moon

Set in 1969, Full Cicada Moon tells the story of Mimi, a half-black, half-Japanese girl who moves to a predominantly white Vermont town with dreams of becoming an astronaut. Facing racism and prejudice, Mimi strives to prove herself and change people's perspectives while holding onto her dreams. Alongside, Inside Out and Back Again narrates the journey of Ha, a young girl who flees Vietnam during the Vietnam War and faces challenges adapting to life as a refugee in Alabama. Both stories capture the struggles of fitting in and standing up for what’s right in verse form, highlighting the impact of one person’s voice in effecting positive change.
