Healer of the Water Monster

When Nathan visits his grandma, Nali, at her mobile summer home on the Navajo reservation, he expects an uneventful summer. He enjoys spending time with Nali and his troubled uncle Jet. One night, Nathan stumbles upon a Water Monster from the Navajo Creation Story in the desert, needing help. Courageously, Nathan resolves to save the Water Monster with the assistance of other Navajo Holy Beings, and aims to help Uncle Jet overcome his problems. The book is the winner of the American Indian Youth Literature Award for Best Middle Grade Book.
