King and the Dragonflies

Twelve-year-old Kingston James navigates grief and secrets after his brother Khalid's death, who he believes transformed into a dragonfly and visits him in dreams. King struggles with his best friend Sandy's secret about his sexuality, which Khalid warned him to keep distance from before dying. When Sandy goes missing and is found hiding from his abusive father, King helps him escape, renewing their friendship and embarking on a journey to build a sanctuary by the bayou amidst dragonflies, forcing King to face truths about himself and his brother's death.
