The Distance Between Me and the Cherry Tree

A novel about a young girl named Mafalda who is losing her sight, inspired by the author's own life story. Mafalda is a nine-year-old who is aware that she will completely lose her sight within the next six months. The story explores her journey of coming to terms with her condition and discovering what will remain important to her when she can no longer see. With support from her family and friends, Mafalda navigates her way through school, soccer, and caring for her cat as she adjusts to her new reality. The book is a recipient of a Batchelder Honor.
