The Wonderling

Mira Bartok tells the story of Arthur, a shy, fox-like foundling with only one ear and a desperate desire to belong, as he seeks his destiny. Welcome to the Home for Wayward and Misbegotten Creatures, run by the evil Miss Carbunkle, who believes her young charges exist only to serve and suffer. Forbidden from enjoying regular childhood pleasures like singing and music, the part-animal, part-human groundlings toil away. Among them is the Wonderling, known only by the number 13, who finds unexpected courage and acquires a friend named Trinket. She gives him a real name, Arthur, and together they escape the institution. Embarking on an adventure, they discover Arthur's true destiny in a world richly imagined with Dickensian and steampunk elements, filled with friendship, hope, and heroics.
