Zephyr the Corgi: Broom Slayer

When his Momma brings out the broom to clean the floor, Zephyr the Corgi wants to protect her from the evil monster he fears will attack her. Instead, he learns a few valuable lessons about open-mindedness, thoughtfulness, and why it's important not to rush to judgement. Young readers will also explore learning concepts and practice vocabulary and critical thinking skills through Corgisations, a study that encourages children to apply principles found in the IB (International Baccalaureate) Program. The author and illustrator, Bella Vry, created this book initially as a class project at the age of fifteen. After presenting it to teachers, students, and their parents, the enthusiastic response led to its publication, supported by Bella’s mom, Becca Vry, who composed a study guide based on children’s reactions and emphasizing IB attributes. This children’s story paired with an IB-centric learning guide aims to promote intellectual engagement, reflection, open-mindedness, and communicativeness to foster personal growth and academic success. Zephyr the Corgi is excited to share his adventure and the important lessons learned.
